Re: how did i play this
I don't like the river bet. We have position here, so why not use it?
A busted draw of some sort isn't going to call. A hand that beats you is surely going to shove. Really the only hands you beat that might call is a KJ/QJ type of hand. JT might look you up too but it's borderline. |
Re: how did i play this
i would be shoving the river for value here. his hand seems pretty well defined as very often being Jx.

[/ QUOTE ] With reads that villain is retarded then I don't mind shoving all day and twice on Tuesdays. With no reads I don't think it's profitable though. It only potentially puts you into a tough decision or villain folds. I think the hand would have been much better without Hero's action on the river. MP's call is practically posting the results unless MP misclicked. |
Re: how did i play this
With no reads at all I check turn behind, call a river bet or make a 1/2 pot one myself if checked to, but will slow down and tread carefully if a K or Q falls.
With any kind of read that villain is donkish / thinks any TP is worth putting in ~60 BBs with / that sort of thing, I take a line similar to yours, but bet a smaller fraction of the pot on the turn, and a larger one on the river. |
Re: how did i play this
When he checks on the turn again I feel somewhat comfortable that AJ is best here, and I like a shove on the river.
Vs some villains I check behind turn for pot control, but only with a read saying I should. |
Re: how did i play this
i would check the river to end the betting, a worse hand will not call a bet here
|
Re: how did i play this
Shove river.

Re: how did i play this
It looks you're definitely beating TJ or JQ here. It looked like he raised for information on the flop, got the information he wanted, but then decided to stubbornly hang on anyway.
It looks like you're afraid to bet more on the river because you don't want to be committed to calling a crai. I think you are losing value because of this. If he shoves over you on the turn then you can fold, but by the river you have to assume you're ahead here most of the time and get more value. |
