to gut the Harrah's properties like the Columbia Sussex Group gutted Tropicana. That's what these investment groups do.

It was expected that would be the case. Most everyone knows Rio is for sale but I don't recall reading if Harrah's is selling it or if Appolo/Texas Pacific is. There is a tram between Palms and Rio planned, this might be part of a bigger picture plan from Malouf.

Both Apollo and TPG are clients of mine. Didn't work on this deal with them - I cover a different industry (wish I covered gaming for sure!!), but I can certainly ask them. In any event, I'll certainly be calling in some favors next time I head out to vegas (just moved back to NYC after two years in LA with frequent Vegas trips, so I am jonesing for a trip).
