Did I Make the Right Play?

I know you guys get tired of endless tipping threads but I am genuinely interested as to what you would have done in this spot:

I am walking home from campus today and stop at a pizza place for lunch. I'm thinking to myself I have $7 in my pocket which is ideal, since I get a $5 lunch special (2 slices and a drink). I'm finishing my meal and notice I only have $6 in my money clip. I have a debit card with me, but I hate to use it unless I have to, so I was really unsure of what to do.

First, I wasn't really served, I seated myself and got my own drink. The guy brought me my pizza and asked me if it was good. So I was thinking just pay and leave no tip, or just give him $6 and tell him to keep the change, but giving him .60 seemed like a douchier move than just not tipping at all. It was my first time at said restaurant, and I enjoyed it and would like to go back some time, so I ended up using my debit card to pay for it, and I gave him a $2 cash tip on a $5 meal.

In my spot do you:
-Just pay for the meal; leave no tip
-Give him the $6
-Use the debit card and leave him a decent tip
-Leave no tip, but be sure to tip double the next time you come

wait at the counter for your pizza to be ready, this way they haven't served you at all and you don't fall into any tipping gray area.

this is not a big deal though. a $.60 cent tip or no tip or a $2 tip, pretty much a wash imo, and I am a big tipper (25% min on almost anything) and even I can't see nitting this up.

lucky for you the world's got plenty of pizza shacks.

OP i totally relate, but i woulda given the $6 and if i go again, i will tip much better. Nah-I'm full of it- i probably woulda used my card and did what you did.

I go to this take out sushi place ALL the time, and if i use my card (and have no real cash on me), there is no tip area on the receipt = no tip..but it's same people always working & they know me so i tip a $5 every few visits.
