Live 10/20 hand at Commerce. Nut turn, not so nut river...

Location: Commerce Casino in Commerce, CA
Stakes: $10/$20 Unrestricted buy-in
Players: The table had just gone through a flurry of action with one African American driving the action going all-in blind for $300, $800 and even $1000. There’s another character named Jack who is helping loosen the table by encouraging everyone to straddle. And we all did! We even played a hand where we all put in $100 blind and let the board play out. I did not win this . There was one pot where there were 3 players all-in $1000+ each before the flop. The hands? African American 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], loose passive button? A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Laggy BB? A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. BTW, hearts came. However, by now the table had calmed down quite a bit since Jack left and the African American went bust. *** 1/2 of 5 game. Still a very loose and playable game, but not the 5 star game it was before. No one at the table has the propensity to bluff raise the river.

Principal players:

UTG – Stack = ~$1000. He’s relatively new, but seems loose passive.

BB – Me. Stack = ~$3800. I have a tight image, but have been straddling along.

MP – Stack ~$5000. Loose aggressive middle aged Asian. Tends to get tricky by checking the flop on monster hands preferring to lay in the weeds until the turn to lay down the hammer. Makes some non-standard pre-flop raises. He has been getting hammered in this game: He had KQ on a QQT board and got stacked by QT. He had a set hammered by a flopped straight (they both slow-played the flop and got it in on the turn). He’s also been generally outplayed. I’d say he’s stuck in the neighborhood of $6000 or more. He’s definitely out to gamble.

SB – Stack = ~$1200. Tightish passive older Gentleman on my right from the Bay Area. Takes notes and keeps records.

Preflop action: (Pot = $30, 9 players)

UTG limps, MP limps, SB puts in $10, and I check 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in BB

Flop action: (Pot = $80, 4 players): J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Check to UTG who bets $60, MP calls, SB calls, I call.

Turn action: (Pot = $320, 4 players) :A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB checks, I bet $300, UTG folds, MP thinks for a moment and then calls. SB folds.

River action: (Pot = $920, 2 players) :2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet $300, MP raises to $800. I ???

All comments appreciated. Results forthcoming.

P.S. BTW, anyone have any strong recommendations for no-limit Vegas games this coming weekend? I’m there for a few days and heard the Venetian is the most comfortable room in the US. How about quality of other mid to high stakes games?

Thanks in advance.

call river, theres no value in a reraise and he may have 64. rest of the hand is fine.

as for vegas action, bellagio and wynn have the biggest action, but sometimes the venetian will get a 10/20 or bigger game off, and yes it definitely is the nicest poker room in vegas (though wynn is nice too)

Make it, say, 1300

I bet bigger on the river, and would call the raise as played.

I'd bet the flop and most turns improved or unimproved, or possibly c/r the turn improved with the ace.

As played, your riverbet seems too small.

As played, it's really a guessing game and I'd hesitate to reraise given this rivercard (improves 64 and doesn't improve much else).

If you were hoping to get payed by any jack and get raised by any ace, then I would just call here.
