Your favorite classic \"NFL Films\" quote

Inspired by the "matriculate the ball down the field" discussion in the "dumb announcers" thread.

Here's a few to get you started:

"They're killing me, Whitey! They're killing me!"

JERRY GLANVILLE: This is the N-F-L, which stands for "Not for Long" when you make calls like that.

BUM PHILLIPS: That's three holding calls on one team, in one half. (long pause) It ain't funny.

SAM RUTTIGLIANO: Come on baby, one time! One time, baby! One time. One time. ONE TIME!

VINCE LOMBARDI: Everybody's grabbing out there, nobody's tackling!

MARV LEVY: (smiling, pre-game) I went to college with that official.
(later, mid-game) Hey Douglass! Hey, you over-officious jerk!

And my favorite:

MARV LEVY: What we need to run, and it's going to sound crazy, is an eight-eighty-eight (simulates a post route with his hands in the air on every "eight"). Just throw the ball deep down the (bleeping) middle, and hope to get a flag.

(It's my favorite, because the 2006-2007 Chicago Bears adopted the "888, just throw the ball deep down the (bleeping) middle, and hope to get a flag" as their bread-and-butter play, and it somehow got them to a Super Bowl. Like poor Marv, they couldn't win a Super Bowl, either.)

HANK STRAM: Hey, Mr Official, let me ask you something: how can six of you miss a call like that? There's six of you...

(referee says something the mic doesn't pick up)

HANK STRAM: (emphatically) No! (immediately confused) What?

PORKY PIG: Lord, we're melanca-ca, we're melonca-ca, we're melonca-ca--we're pretty darn sad.

Glanville to ref (playing against Cowboys): "Where are you from?" "Dallas". "Dallas? Is Jimmy Johnson your neighbor?"

Levy to Bruce Smith: "Don't yell at the ref; I've learned not to do that". Later in game: "Oh WTF"

Pre-game coach's gretting at midfield - George Seifert: "Oh hey Norv"...10 seconds of awkward silence. Seifert didn't talk much.

McKay of those awful Bucs team had some classic lines - I forget them.

Funny that Kotite was even bad at yelling at the refs. "He just killed the Quarterback" - Lol he sounded like such a girl.

I remember McKay getting frustrated during a preseason game, because while he paced up and down the sidelines, he kept bumping into players, and he couldn't find anyone to get the players to stay back away from the sideline and out of his way.

They got at least five minutes of footage of McKay snarling, "...if they don't get back, I'll cut 'em, baby! I'll ship their ass off to Green Bay!", which was the 1970's equivalent of being banished to Siberia.

Ummmm, can we get a "frozen tundra of Lambeau Field" from John Facenda?

FYP.

Facenda never actually said the phrase in any NFL Films production.

I believe the ref says something along the lines of: "we were talking about you being on the field" -- then, he walks off, and Hank delivers his line.

That's my favorite NFL Films moment.

Stram was always good in these. There's one clip where he called a play and they scored and he was so [censored] proud of himself. Anyone remember his exact words there?

Can't ever go wrong with Lombardi quotes:

"What the HELL is going on out there?"

"What we want is to get a seal HERE, and a seal HERE, and run this ball IN THE ALLEY"

"Everybody's grabbing. Nobody is tackling. GRAB GRAB GRAB"

For some reason those always jump out at me when I think of classic NFL Films.

Also, I get a kick out of anytime they've got Jon Gruden mic'd up. Especially after he yells "HEY..." then pauses for a few moments.

How bout "They're draggin' ass!"

McKay quotes:

"Kickers are like horse manure. They're all over the place."

"Emotion is highly overrated in football. My wife Corky is emotional as hell but can't play football worth a damn."

“We’ve broken down the expansion teams and they’ve averaged winning 2.7 games their first year, which to me is rather difficult. I figured out the 2, but the .7 has got me wondering what the hell is going on.”
