5% tipping...

i've been reading searched posts and 5% seems fine for a small tourny win.

is that 5% of gross or net?

Tip whatever you want. It's been discussed to death here. Search +Tournament +tipping and you'll get more answers than you could possibly want to read, covering the last 2 years.

One approach is to tip by table hours. If it was a 100 man tournament (10 tables) that took 5 hours, assuming an average of 5 tables for that period gives you 25 table (dealer) hours. How much do you think the dealers should get tipped per hour worked? Assume they earn $20 per hour in tips working most cash games, you'd want their total tips to be $500. Figure out what percentage of the prize pool that is and tip your share of the $500.

Like I said, it's just one approach.
