Push pf so you don't end up in this situation. As played, push the flop and hope to take it down now. Pot is too big to just check/fold when you have the best hand a good % of the time anyways.

Yar, I agree. Shove pre, as played shove flop. I would shove all my playable hands pre including AA. Raises half your stack looks weird, especially when you probably just shove like AJ. Observant players will notice that you try to suck ppl in with larger preflop hands and shove with marginal ones. This can be a very useful read on regulars btw.

shove pf. at certain tables making it 3x is also reasonable, your raise size is bad here either way.

Interesting consensus on shove pre.

When I first started playing poker less than 2 years ago, I religiously followed Chris Ferguson's advice that if you plan on betting more than 25% of your stack you should just shove.

However, it seemed like I wasn't getting enough action on my big hands so I started dabbling in smaller raises with QQ+ AK

3x bb is still &gt; 25% stack. What do people think of a min-raise pre-flop ?

This all depends on what your goal is...if you think you'll do better later on in the tournament getting away from this hand you might as well just fold preflop and wait until you feel like playing. If you want to start gearing up to pwn the table, a push pre is certainly best. You want to focus on unexploitable plays (even at the 6.5's)

I think the argument for a min-raise is that all the same junk folds as to a 3x-4x raise, you have a better chance to entice a lesser hand into an allin, and if called and miss flop your cbet is just as convincing as with a larger pre-flop raise while the smaller pot and better ratio of your stack to pot allows you more maneuverability.

Not saying I'd choose a min-raise, but there is an argument for it.

You are OOP the rest of the hand with ~12 BB. Just shove P/F and hope shorty (590) takes a shot at calling you.
