i've been postin updates on a little experiment to figure out if one can make a livin playin 1/2 in FL. i decided i was gonna play 80 hrs (the equivalent of 2 full wks of work) and calculate everything pertinent to making a livin outta it. yes i know 80 hrs is not enough, that's been discussed already. all i wanted was a rough estimate and not to spend too many hrs doing it b/c 1/2 is certainly not enough money for me to spend too much time on it. i've already posted every session but here's all of them again including my last one which was about a wk ago...


1) 2 hrs --> +$359
2) 14 hrs --> +$717
3) 5 hrs --> -$364
4) 5 hrs --> +$243
5) 6 hrs --> +$71
6) 3 hrs --> -$327
7) 1 hr --> -$200
8) 2 hrs --> +$49
9) 10 hrs --> +$1033
10) 4 hrs --> -$200
11) 2 hrs --> $159

totals:
hrs = 54
profit = +$1540
hrly rate = $29.62/hr or 14.8BB/hr

even tho i still have 26 hrs to go i decided to stop right here for a few reasons. one of them being that i can make a lot more money online in less time and w/out leavin my apt. another reason being that whenever i go down to the local casino i'm just playin the 2/5.

it's true that the 100 max buy in on that 2/5 is kind of a joke, but still the game is very profitable. so profitable that (at least for me) it's never worth goin there & sittin @ a 1/2 table. just last week i played 4 sessions of 2/5 (monday thru thursday) and made over $4k in about 30 hrs. the play is just as bad as the 1/2 but it includes a bunch of asians w/ full gambol on.

as to makin a livin playin 1/2, i'ma say even tho i dedicated very few hrs it's still quite obvious it can be done. by no means one will become rich but comparin the $29.62/hr i achieved to the state minimum (less than $7) it shows it can be done. even if i'm wrong in my numbers b/c perhaps i was just lucky in the few hrs that i played... let's say it's actually half of what i achieved, $14.81, it's still more than double min wage here in florida.

so, yes, it can be done. and just throwin a number out there i'ma say $1500 is more than enough a bankroll to play that soft of a game for a decent player. of course if makin a livin out of it one should have a lot more than that.

You have made less than $30/hour running good. I doubt that's enough to live on because you're going to run bad eventually and knock it down to somewhere around minimum wage.

as in std. dev. squared? as in measurin the range of values around the EV? i guess i really have no idea what it is then. all that time in college and being a TA for the math dept in the meanwhile didn't work out after all.
