Stud8 - How to play a straight in this tricky spot?

4th: Should I fold here? I hate to play an 8, but the straight draw sweetens the deal.

Please give advice if I should raise on 5th, 6th or 7th.

i would lean towards folding on 4th as your drawing to a bad low and a 5 is dead. but i dont think calling is too bad considering the size of the pot and re-evaluating on 5th. but from 5th on i would probably raise as you most likely have the best high hand.

I'm neutral about raising 3rd and 4th. You have a good hand and there's a lot of dead money coming along for the ride so you want to build the pot as much as possible, but given your position, you aren't knocking out any sort of low draw and the only people who will fold are the dead money that you want to call.

On 5th, you have a powerful two way hand. The heart flush is dead as can be and the scary low is playing like he has crap-all. Seat 3-4-5 have seen enough cheap cards that maybe one of them will come along for the ride when you raise. Bet 6th and 7th.

Third's a call. Fourth is at least a call. Fifth is probably worth a raise. Tough to know what J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] is betting, but it probably isn't a flush. Presumably, he wouldn't raise third with a three-flush that has no low cards. Betting into five people on fourth with a four-flush and four hearts out would be insane. Your straight is very likely good for high, and with A45 just calling, maybe it's good for low too. You don't want a whole lot of company with a hand like this, though. Get your money in there.

I think a raise is in order on sixth. The guy behind you might well have four hearts, and while they're pretty dead, you don't want him to get one too cheap. If nothing else, you get more money in with the likely best hand. On the river, I think going for the over-call is probably best.

Third is fine.
Fourth is fine, you have a low straight draw against a ton of high hands and there's only one other low draw. Don't raise because you may knock high hands out, and don't fold.
Fifth was bad, you need to raise because you are winning high and probably low. If the J raised third with a 3 flush, that was a very bad play.
Sixth was bad (if you played as I said you would know more by now) because you should raise for the same reasons, although you don't have the low anymore.
River was fine, although if it was just the two of you I might raise, which would probably amount to nothing. No point in exposing yourself to the heart guy if he has a flush.
