beat: UPS pwns my education

Ordered books next day air on weds, the first day of the new quarter. Yes I shouldve ordered them before, but whatever. They are supposed to arrive friday, I leave for class at around 1pm without seeing or hearing from the UPS guy. I figure it will just come saturday or sunday. I decide to check my school email and see a shipping confirmation with a tracking number. I click it and to my dismay it says that my books were delivered on friday at 10:01am. I was home, possibly asleep but I would have woken up to the doorbell or knocking. Everyone else in the house was gone or asleep and says they didnt sign for it. So where the [censored] is my package?

Since no one signed for it, its UPS's fault right? Their customer support crap isnt open til tommorow, but I should eventually get a complete refund right? How long is this going to take?

They probably have their shipment at the distribution centre. I had an order from Fedex that went back cause apparently the delivery guy sitting outside my house for five minutes without knocking or doorbell constitutes me not answering the door to accept delivery. Just og down and pick it up.

yea, i had a few things sent to me from DHL. I wasn't there, it goes back to their warehouse. I think they try to deliver it another time or two, but the fastest way is to call them and go down and pick it up, that way too they'll mark it so its not sitting in a truck all day when you're trying to go pick it up.

I work for UPS, but I'm not a delivery driver. I'm pretty sure that we try and deliver it several times over the next few days, and if unsuccessful the package gets returned to its shipper. You should be able to pick your package up from the local distribution center as long as they have it, and it wasn't just left and stolen.

right, but the tracking says "delivered", not "returned to shipper" or anything that would lead me to believe that it is still in the possession of UPS or the bookstore.

I think all UPS (especially overnight) are insured. So if you didn't get it, you should be able to claim it.

Edit: Did you check the rear door?

woah... I also just noticed that it says "location: rear door" There is no rear door where I live. Theres no access to the rear of the building from the street or alley, wtf is going on?
