Value bet gone wrong

Villain seems like a fairly solid tag. 20/15/3
No major history or anything.

pf, sometimes I three bet, sometimes I fold, here I called.

On the turn, I generally bet, here I decided to check as I really felt like he was giving up.

I dunno, the size of his river bet threw me off a little so I opted for a smaller value raise and then...........

150bb deep, i like the preflop call. i like a turn bet though. its unlikely he'll figure you for an 8 if he has a hand to go with. if he doesn't, you aren't out of much.

as played, river looks like a fold. QQ/JJ are most likely candidates. i dont see him 3betting the river with an overpair. fold.

turn is wtf...

if he's giving up on turn, he'll generally not call a river bet.

But he might bet air on river if he checks, that he otherwise was giving up on.

eh...if he's thinking, i think that check turn/bet river as a bluff is usually pretty bad. it depends on river of course, but in general, i think most tags will double barrel instead of check turn/bet river as a bluff.

now if he's vb-ing, thats completely different. but sometimes i'll float these boards and ill certainly bet when i hit.

gotta bet turn
and river is a fold, unless you have enough history with him to believe he'll read your river raise as an extremely thin vb and try to bluff you out.

Bet turn to balance your floats and obv. for value,
river is a fold since I canīt see an std TAG doing rhis with worse!

yeah, I generally will too as in 95% of the time. in this case I opted against it.

I mean, the board is so ridiculously dry, wtf is he check calling with there?

That turn card is typically a pretty good one for any overpair, TPTK etc. so if he wanted more money in the pot, it seems as if he would have bet it.

My thought in it's simplest form, was that betting the turn would take the pot down there and checking might net me another bet or two if he pairs up or w/e.
