typically id flat call; AK becomes difficult to play post flop when you miss and by calling the pot stays pretty maneageable...you can bet and raise at will and often get action at this buy in with a bunch of crap once you hit.

vs certain opponents a reraise is reasonable, but when you 3 bet you need to decide if youre willing to play for stacks. if you are, go ahead, if youre not, just call the first time.

I thought maybe if I re-raised, he'd fold and I wouldn't have to play out of position.

Another reason I played it the way I did:

This is the sort of thing that happens to me ALL the time.

Re: Is this how you play AK? Or did I overplay and just get lucky?

I muck ATs here pre to a raise. I might opt to call if it's a minraise by a donk tho. On turn when button raises (since he;s pfr) I muck too as A likely hits him and I would think he's beating your kicker, despite him raising button to open. I kinda don't think there'd be many steal raises this early on (maybe In a $5 I'm wrong since all the pros have read Moshman lol). On turn I let it go, but riv as a check/call looks good as you are ahead of every Ace other than A4 w/ top 2.
