Caribbean cruise advice

I really am quite a n00b at all this. I'm interested in going on my first cruise with my gf (whose been on one small cruise from san diego down to a few mexican cities). We'd like to do a bigger cruise on a boat that has lots of fun things to do.

Which cruise lines are the best for this? How do you deal with alcohol on the trip? How long should I go for? What islands should I visit? Is the end result of the trip something that me and my girl will enjoy and remember?

Right now we're considering doing a standard 5-day Carnival trip from Miami to various islands.

Thanks for any advice 2+2.

Way too many non-specific questions for us to answer.

Cruises are fun. I've been on 3 Carnival trips. Alcohol and Soda is the only things you have to pay for on the cruise. It gets kinda expensive. You could always sneak bottles of liquor in your suitcases in tho. =D

My best advice: put vodka into water bottles and put in your checked luggage (obviously can't put them in carryons for the plane, but it works the same for security on the ship).

Purchase a "soda card" for unlimited sodas and juices.

Combine.

Profit.

If you are a wine drinker, bring bottles of wine in your checked luggage. They will charge you a corkage fee (sometimes), but you get much better wine at a much cheaper price.

Carnival and NCL are best for younger people.
