Bankroll Management
 

Hi there just a quick question on BR management. Just started playing .02/.04 NL cash games, what is a good ball park figure Bankroll before I move up to the .05/.10 NL tables?

I was thinking about 150X the BB. Any suggestions?

That should cover ya...after all it's not like you're gonna get a nose bleed from those stakes. Just go with whatever you're comfortable with. If you lose it all you can always reload.

20 buy-ins for NL is generally much more conservative than 300 BB for limit. Depending on the statistics you assume, 10-12 buy-ins might be equivalent to 300 BB.

It does not make sense to treat soft NL $10 games the same way as much tougher NL $100 games. Advocating a fixed number of buy-ins suggests that all levels are equally difficult. That's not close to correct. You need fewer buy-ins to take a shot at NL $10 than you do to try tougher games, since if you are winning, it is much more likely that your win rate is high at NL $10.

It's quite reasonable to take a shot at NL $10 with 8 full buy-ins, $80, as long as you will move down if you lose, say, $30, or if your balance does not represent all of the money you can commit to poker, which is usually the case for microstakes players.
