Theory: BB Raising Standards

Quick Question.

What hands should I be raising from the BB against limpers?

If the whole table limps...
if just 1 person in EP limps...
if several mp/lp limpers...
if just the button limps...
if SB limps, bvb situation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hugely read-dependent, I'm afraid. Hope this helps.

Whole table - AQs+, JJ+. Maaayyybbbeeee TT and AQo
1 EP - AJs+, AQo+, KQs, pairs (sometimes limp the small ones).
Several EP - TT+, AQ+
Button - wide
SB - really, really wide.

Re: Theory: BB Raising Standards

like everyone is saying, it really depends on the players at the table and all that jazz, but...

- If the whole table limps...

Well you have a sweet ass table then, don't you? Probably a bunch of calling stations, so no sense in bloating a pot where you'll have no FE with a cbet, etc. Just raise big hands for value and that's about it. Big pairs, big aces.

- if just 1 person in EP limps...

Really depends on the guy. If he's kind of nitty he's probably just playing fit or fold with a pocker pair or mid SC or something, so raising wide and cbetting is great. If it's a station or someone who likes to float/play back, just raise good hands for value. When a 12/10 limps UTG it's sooo different than when a 40/5 limps in (obviously).

- if several mp/lp limpers...

That's pretty much the whole table if you're playing 6max.

- if just the button limps...

I'd probably be raising like any pair, any SC, any suited ace, any 2 big cards.

- if SB limps, bvb situation.

Christ, pretty much everything except the real trashy hands like Q4o.

Again, though, if the guy is going to play a lot with you tighten up a bit and raise more for value. If the guy is weak and wants to limp/call > check/fold all day, well, exploit that.
