Stars $55K: Overplayed AJ on flop?

Hand from $55 Stars $55K guaranteed. No read on the villain. I had been card dead and hadn't played a hand the last few orbits.

Did I play this too fast on the flop? Now what's my line on the turn? Villain only has about 1900 chips left and is probably pot committed.

Check/call or move all-in yourself. I'd check/call if I thought he were likely to bluff with a missed straight draw (repping the flush) but fold if I shoved. Otherwise, I shove and hope for the best. You are still ahead of AT and a OESD.

Not much I can see you doing here other than changing your commitment plan PF based on your opponents.

He invests only 7% of his stack preflop, so i don't think he has passed the commitment threshold.

I think the main question is if he is committed on the flop and should bet it or check it.

As he wasn't reraised I think he is in front and committed, so I would bet the flop. I would still bet the turn as he is still in front of villains range - so I think a shove is right here (with already 3 spades on the board).

Looks super standard. You raised with a good hand, c-bet a perfect flop and on the turn the money goes in no matter what.

If the button called your 1.500 bet on the flop with just a flushdraw and a stack of 3.400, more power to him.

arrrrrin.

Uh...use effective stacks. Villain has ~20% of his stack in PF. I think we are well passed the commitment threshold.

Go for the pot. He probably has Ax. There's enough in the pot to justify it.

As far as the flop bet, you made him pay improper odds for a flush draw, which is all you can do, and he called. And if he has the flush he paid too much for it.

You're right sherman but he can't know who will enter the pot when he raises, so you can't fold everytime when a shortstack sits behind you - CO and SB were bigstacks like him. Here it was button who made a mistake flat calling this imo.

After the call the threshold was passed obv.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Seems the consensus is that I played the hand okay, and that the money is going in on the turn.

In the actual hand, I shoved the turn, and villain flipped over AA for top set. Just wanted to make sure there was no way to reasonably avoid this by shutting it down.
