Funny problem in need of serious answer.

Okay... so I've played poker for a living for over two years... I applied for a job last week. They want to hire me but twenty minutes ago I get a call from their background-checker. The lady on the phone says, "Could you send us some W-2s showing that you were a professional poker player?"
W-2s???
I offer to send her a copy of my 2004 taxes but she says that they can only accept professionally-prepared taxes.
What is my move?
I thought of:
"Look, lady, I can rattle off stats for long enough to bore you to death. I can give you excruciatingly detailed stultifyingly boring hand-histories for hours or days."
OR...
"Why don't you get together all your most macho CEOs and tell them to bring loads of cash. I will demonstrate my craft until they are satisfied or until they are broke."

But if I want the job, what do I do now?

Get W-2s prepared.

Bring your tax records to H&R block or something like that and have them do it over for you. Bribe the guy if you have to.

How does one just get W2s prepared? Those are prepared by employers and given to employees. Presumably, OP was self-employed as a pro.

IRS.Gov

I'll bet you can print a W2 out right from here.

Yeah, you can get a W2 from: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw2.pdf

But I presume that the company wants a W2 that was prepared by an employer. Is that possible for a poker pro?

Their background checker is an idiot. W-2 forms are for paid employees. Inform this individual that you are self-employed, and that if necessary you will submit your tax return. There really isn't much more than this that you can do.

correct answer.

And why do they want your W2 or Taxes anyway? None of their business. should not have anything to do with what they pay you. Strange. What kind of a job is this?
