Farewell, limit hold\'em, it\'s been fun.

Dear microers,

after clearing 0.25/0.5 I had to decide if I wanted to keep on grinding 0.5/$1, learn 6max LHE or start over with NL. On sites like Absolute or Crypto full ring limit is virtually nonexistent and even on the big ones like Party or Stars it's barely possible to 4-table above .5/1. Limit hold'em is, like Stud 20 years ago, a dying species.

Then I read PNL1 and it just blew me away. Alone the Fundamentals and REM sections taught me so much, that I dare to make the switch. This book's impact on me is only comparable to SSHE. I already played my first 200 hands NL10 and it feels like driving a Ferrari on the german autobahn, when you are used to a 40t-truck. How's it gonna be when I know how to play NL100?

I didn't wanna quit what was my home for over half a year whithout saying CU and sharing my experience what made me a winning player at the micro levels. Here are my top 6:

1. Understanding SSHE
2. Session Reviews
3. Lurking the forums
4. Posting in the micros (and getting berated)
5. Value betting made hands and monster draws
6. Applying pot odds

from WTHEG:

At the lowest limits, "no fold'em hold'em" is the norm. Since it's not uncommon to routinely see 5 to 6 players to a flop, bluffing is far less important and betting for value is far more important. ... Knowing the pot odds, calling with profitable draws, and betting and raising for value are the key skills. You will win fewer pots than your opponents, but will take home the money because the pots you win will be larger and you will lose less when you lose ... You should almost never bluff, but you can bet and raise with your strong draws because you will have an equity edge against large fields. Also, betting for value is key because you do not want to give free cards to players who will pay to chase weak draws.

These are my modest contributions to the micros:

Doing the Ali Baba - An intro to blind stealing

Limper under arrest - An intro to isolation raising

Valuetown City Limits - An intro to value betting

The micros playalong compilation

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge, the micros are just terrific. Special thanks to Aussie, Bozlax and AaronW, you were my heroes!

The best of luck to all, see you at the tables.

Good luck with the shift to NL. From all the indications, it should be a highly profitable switch if you can make the right adjustments.
