Steve Phillips obsession w/ the Yankees

Why has this guy been so obsessed about NY not being good enough to make the playoffs? I could see it when they were 14 1/2 games behind Boston, but not with the team they have now. Even Olney has accepted the fact that NY is most likely getting in. Phillips's drivel on Baseball Tonight yesterday was laughable. He was basically grasping at straws and saying that Detroit can/will win the WC because they only face 2 good starting pitchers the rest of the season whereas NY faces 5. I'm not sure if he's leveling everyone because ESPN is asking him to show an angle where NY doesn't get in, or if he really believes NY sucks. He keeps harping on the fact that NY doesn't have any starting pitching. Sure, in April and May that may have been the case, but not lately.

Why would SP care about a trade that Jim Duquette made?

steve phillips is paid to say whatever espn wants him to say

The best was at the trade deadline, when he said the Yankee offense would fade and they would finish far behind the Sox and wild card, yet the Rockies offense would propel them to run away with the NL Wild Card without fading.

Everyone loves to hate the yankees. Listen to the announcers (Morgan, Miller, Buck, McCarver are the ones that come to mind) and the absolute bias they have against the New York Yankees is laughable. I'm a Cubs fan so this isn't a homer assessment of the situation.
