hand vs. baffa

i raise JJ utg, folded to baffa in the sb who 3bets, i cap he calls.

5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] he c/c.

turn is T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] he c/c

river is J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] he checkraises.

anyone check the river? what to do about the cr?

friend of mine said he bet/calls but, upon further contemplation, i decided that if he wanted to bluff this river he would just bet out...maybe not though. stars 1/2 btw.

The river c/r is all As Ks versus reasonable opposition. I don't bet river because his line suggests he doesn't have a strong enough non-flush hand to call.

I'm not saying don't call the river raise, what I'm saying is knowing baffa if he had any non flush hand strong enough to call the river then you would have gotten more action earlier in the hand. Second even though baffa has a wider 3 bet range then most, he's not 3 betting an utg raise extraordinarily wide. His range is overwhelming weighted towards big to medium aces are you're just going to have to pay 2 bets to see whether or not it contains a spade and more times then not its a spade. So just check behind on the river. This is coming from someone who probably value bets more non flush hands on 4 flush boards than most.

Re: hand vs. baffa

im not saying this is a clear bet, in fact its not a bet in my mind because baffa might give you more action somewhere with a pair on the flop or turn, but the two options are bet-call and check, betfold should be completely discarded

We're on the same wave length, and I'm saying it's a clear check.
