Is this a reckless bet on the river? What do you think is a calling range of a solid villain here?

I like this, especially with the results.

He's showing a ton of strength here, but his river check would make me think that I'm good way more often than not.

As far as a read goes I would put him on either a single jack or a flopped flush.

Especially with an aggressive image and he probably thought I was steaming for losing a buy in to him, I decided to shove here.

This is a very easy vb, checking is pretty weak tight and leaving a ton of value on the table. If you are struggling in these spots try and play some HU limit and you'll see how far ahead of his range you are.

If he made a blocking bet here, I might just call, would that be right? His check river convinced me that I have the best hand. However, later I realized that it is not such a weird play for something like two pair to check the river in that spot.

It really depends how deeply he is thinking and how deep he thinks you are thinking. After a while HU against a good opponent is just a mind [censored]

Vs anything but a passive scared fish this is a easy all in IMO

I like it as played. If he blocked into you, I think just calling is fine. At that point he's either beating QQ or bluffing a whiffed draw. I don't think he's calling a raise with a worse hand but I think you beat him plenty enough to call profitably.
