WSOP 2008 Main Event dates
 

I want to buy directly into the 2008 main event.

However, I work as a photographer and have already taken a booking for 12th July. I note that this was slap bang in the middle of WSOP 2007 Main Event....

Any ideas when the WSOP 2008 is? I can't see the schedule. Do the dates change every year?

In their quest for more revenue, Harrahs has announced that the main event will start one calendar month earlier every year. In 12 years they will have successfully added one extra Main Event and oodles of cash to their bottom line.

I don't have the exact date though, sorry.

I see a New Orleans WSOP Circuit event scheduled to go until May 21. They wouldn't start the WSOP until after that, would they?

I think they announce the dates in December.

I'll maybe contact Harrahs directly and get some info.

My job really gets in the way as bookings for work at 1 year in advance.

Well, I've looked into this and it seems the Main Event $10K is run somewhere around 7-15th July recently, although 2006 was August and 2003/2004 were both in May.

Any idea if they'll change the dates this year or who do I contact to find out?

What I really find funny here, is that most likely no one at Harrahs knows what the 2008 WSOP will be held at, yet when you watch the 2007 WSOP on ESPN, they advertise to go to the http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com website, and pre-register for next year. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Yup, yer right.

I need to work this out in advance because of my job - but even regardless, I would like to set my ticket money/expense money aside, book my flights/hotels in advance so I may get a discount and look forward to going!

We appreciate your interest in WSOP 2008. In response to your message, yes, the dates for the WSOP will be slightly different each year. Unfortunately we may not know the dates for the 2008 WSOP until some time in January but please do check back with us. As soon as the dates are released they will be posted at www.worldseriesofpoker.com.
