You can, but what do you do if villain shoves? Problem is you're OOP here, so I'd be happy to see a showdown without having to call a big river bet..

Jesus, raise the turn and bet the river.

I never play offsuited connectors in raised pots. Especially OOP. I would fold it preflop.

On the flop I would raise to 8.

Re: NL25: Flopping a straight on a monotone board

Don't know, the thing is, NLHE is about playing big pots, and big pots occur, when someone has the best hand, and the other guy has a secondbest hand he really likes. In cases like this I always wonder if I am the moron in the hand or the other guy. I have no problem getting it AI on the flop with a set on a monotone board, but a straight is just not going to improve. So what do I do if I bet the turn, say about a potsized bet, and villain shoves? Fold, getting 2:1 on my money? Can we say it depends on reads?

Well, yeah. The problem is that you never really had an idea where you stand in this hand. As played, I think just checking the river isn't too bad. But SABR is right and you should've raised the turn.

Doesn't this get any 1pr/2pr/naked A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] type hands to fold and a made flush to shove?

not if they're bad.

Also... sets, 2 pair and flush draws may try to outdraw you.
