2/4 -- Should I just be jacking this in?
 

5 handed, effective stacks $450. My image is probably pretty aggro pf, but in-line post flop. Villain is in the SB and seems pretty tight and passive thus far.

I raise AKQ9 with nut diamonds out of the BB (good raise?) over an UTG limp -- UTG calls and villain in SB calls.

Pot is $48, flop is Q92 with 2 hearts and a club -- I have no clubs or hearts. SB checks, I lead for $40, UTG folds, and then SB check raises me full pot to $166.

I was pretty scared at this point because like I said before, he was playing pretty tight and passive. I thought my equity would be pretty bad vs his range if I just jacked it in right here, so I peeled a turn card looking for something blankish. Is this a good idea?

Turn is Jc for a board of Q92J with two fds. He jams, and I fold.

How'd I do?

The flop decision is clearly push or fold after the reraise. With top 2 on a draw heavy board you're usually either comfortably ahead or in a coin flip vs draws. Unless villain is a real nit I'd probably push.

Calling is the worst possible decision as there are a large number of scare cards that can fall on the turn and you will have no idea whether they hit the villain or not.

Q97hh I would agree that calling is ugly. Q92hh I just don't buy your argument. There are many good blanks -- non heart 3-7 and A's, 9's, and Q's -- 22 in all. I'd also say there just aren't that many "scare cards" that are going to hit where I'm going to be making a bad decision.

ie, turn is a 6h and he jams Q9T8 and I fold.

Preflop ok. Flop bet ok. After you get re-raised I like to fold against tight/passive players. Your hand doesn't do well against this kind of players range. He usually has a two pair (usually same as you), a set or biggish draw (maybe a combination from these). All in all you're rarely much ahead and sometimes way behind. However you've position so call isn't that bad. If opponents slows down you can try to pick up the pot. Turn is fold.

I like the fold on the flop raise. Preflop is fine, flop bet is ok too. The raise can be a number of things, a set, a wrap, wrap + flush draw, 2 pair + flush draw....
Against such a draw heavy board, it would be better to fold flop as you dont have much of the power in keeping pot control anymore.

i disagree here - villan is a nit and has repopped a player he thinks will bet. you are flipping if you are lucky here

Yeah, if villain's playing really tight and passive, this is going to be a set more often than not. Your best move is just to give it up.
