World Domination

Here's a game idea I thought of while thinking of countries for POG Mole and typed up today

I'd like a lot of comments on balance. What would be very helpful would be numerical values of the relative power of different roles. Since a role can be either evil or good, you'd need different values for each alignment.

Oil producing countries need balance.

I also need some feedback with regard to scaling the game depending on how many people sign up. I'd definitely like to keep the "no player is vanilla" idea, so the minor roles/abilities need to be balanced.

Creative vision and role ideas/tweaks are also welcomed

Introduction
A group of countries have turned evil, seeking world domination. The game is like soah's Star Trek: TNG in that you have many power roles but evil roles are an unknown subset.

Throughout the course of the game the players have two major options to help win the game "economic sanctions" = lynch, "military attack" = nightkill.

The United Nations are also

Economic Powers and Abilities
Japan is an economic superpower. Votes for lynch against Japan count for half.

The U.S. is the eminent economic superpower of the world. It is immune to all lynches, but dies if the vote of an "oil producing country" is on them at nighttime.

Germany is the world's top exporter. It may be king for one lynch. It will not be announced that this power has been used.

South Korea is one of Asia's rising economies. If Japan dies, SK gets Japan's powers.

China is a powerful export-based economy. If it is lynched, it may choose to take down another country with them.

Britain is a hub of global finance. Every lynch, it may buy one player's vote and place it where they choose.

Both North Korea and Cuba are already embargoed by many countries and are thus resistant to global sanctioning. They are immune to one lynch.

Military Powers and Abilities
Every night, one member of the Evil Team can perform a team attack (nightkill) on one player of their choice. That player cannot use any other abilities that night.

France has nuclear weapons and the ability to globally project them. It gets one nightkill.

Britain has nuclear weapons and the ability to globally project them. It gets one nightkill.

India has nuclear weapons with limited reach. It gets two nightkills which only succeed against Asian countries.

Pakistan has nuclear weapons with limited reach. It gets one nightkill which only succeeds against Asian countries. Pakistan is also the primary provider of UN Peacekeepers, and every night, is PMed in advance the name of the countries protected by the UN.

China has nuclear weapons, but has committed to use them only against other nuclear powers. It has two nightkills which only succeed against other countries with nuclear capabilities.

Russia has a massive arsenal of Cold War-era nuclear weapons. It has unlimited nightkills, but its missiles are still aimed at NATO countries, and only succeed against European and Western Hemisphere countries. The nukes are also in disrepair, and with every nightkill taken after the first, Russia has an increasing chance of destroying itself. (1/2, 3/4, 7/8 chance)

North Korea is a rogue nation with a nuclear program. After night 2, North Korea develops a viable nuclear weapon, and can blow itself up at any time--day or night--and take one player with them.

Israel has a world-class intelligence agency. It gets to peek one player's role but not alignment every night starting n0. It also has defensive nuclear weapons, and if Israel is successfully attacked at night, then its attacker will be counterattacked.

The U.S. has satellites watching your every move. It gets to peek one player's role and alignment every night starting n0. The U.S. has nuclear weapons, and gets one nightkill usable only against a player it has not peeked.

Other Powers and Abilities
Canada: If it is village, it may choose to establish a masonry with the U.S and talk out of thread 24/7. If Canada is evil, it dies if the U.S. is lynched.

Every night, Iran may name any two living players. If, over the course of the game Iran names Russia, North Korea and China, then it develops nuclear weapons. When Iran successfully develops nuclear weapons, Israel is destroyed. Iran is not told which country it has identified, only that they are 33/66/100% finished completing nukes.

United Nations Actions
Economic Sanctions: A lynch.

U.N. Peacekeepers: Every day, votes are cast by PM by everyone for players to which UN Peacekeepers will be sent at night. You may vote for as many players as you like, however, a majority must be reached for Peacekeepers to be sent. This player is immune to all military actions targeting them that night (even nukes), and when day breaks, the role (but not the alignment) of the player is revealed.

When there are X countries left, the UN is disbanded (double votes and peacekeeping stop, but lynches and night abilities continue).

Security Council of the UN
United States
France
Russia
Britain
China

These Security Council members are double voters for sanctions and peacekeeping.

Notes
South and North Korea cannot be on the same team.
Pakistan and India cannot be on the same team.
Israel and Iran cannot be on the same team.

If a lynch is avoided by immunity, etc. then the next leading votegetter is lynched, a la MDD in Heroes.

North Korea and Iran can attack the U.S.

In the day post, successful attacks are written up as "Country X attacked Country Y (player name)." UN protection is written up as "Country X attacked Country Y, but UN Peacekeepers intervened."

List of Possible Roles

Nuclear Weapons ^
Oil producer o
*Power Role

Americas
*US ^
*Canada o
*Cuba
Venezuela o

Europe
*Russia ^o (counts for Asia too)
*Britain ^
*France ^
*Germany
Saudi Arabia o

Asia
*Israel ^
*Iran o
*Pakistan ^
*India ^
*China ^o
*Japan
*North Korea ^
*South Korea

IMO, the countries to be cut if few players sign up should be Cuba & France at first, and then Iran & Canada if needed.

The general continent distribution as the game scales should be about 50% Asia and 50% Europe and Americas. I may add some African/Oceanic countries

Possible miscellaneous roles/abilities for "vanilla" countries:

receive a one-time PM of a player name from Asia/Europe/Americas or is a oil producer
send an anonymous message to a target country/player
post an anonymous message in thread
journal revealed on death
one-time roleblock
one-time angel protect
lovers (not told)
miller (not told)
angel protects the player he voted for (not told)
roleblocks the player he voted for (not told)
"ally" with a player before alignments are assigned

China needs the ability to dump the dollar

additional characters might be the IMF and Global Bank, which have the ability to cause riots in 3rd world countries

for additional complexity maybe make OPEC a separate faction that gets stronger the longer its member nations survive

This game looks difficult, buy may be a great success with

A) lots of tweaking by experienced players/mods
B) focused, serious players

Any chance this game can be done as a slow game, like VR's? I'm really enjoying the new format with Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday nightfalls.

For balance, I dunno.

It seems random. It seems like MM more than anything.

It's hard to get good balance when roles aren't defined for a side (and w/o full info).

Either way, I suggest effing balance, making it MM8: World domination, and throwing in whatever you can think of.
