I'm interested to know what you think I should've done on the river, but any comments on any streets are welcome. What do you put SB on?

Busted draws and low pairs probably don't c/c the river.

TPWK calls and has you beaten.

You certainly don't want to open yourself up to a c/r.

So, check behind.

I suspect that SB either has TPWK, a big hand of some kind looking to c/r the river, or a missed draw that will fold if you bet.

Interesting. I checked and he showed an 8d 9s, so I won the hand. I was wondering if I should've bet the river. I was worried about the c/r, but I was worried about trips. Maybe I made the right call and he was just playing something way too loose. I didn't want to raise the turn b/c of the Queen--too passive?

At the micro stakes, they'll go all the way down to the river with any draw. I would check behind here as well, if he had a ten or a queen, he'll either call you or raise you, if he had nothing, he'll fold to a bet, so you're either going to lose 1 or 2 bets, or gain nothing.

There's no point betting the river when he has 89 and isn't going to call. Checking the river is definitely right because most of the time when he calls or raises you're beat. There's some argument for raising the turn here. It partly depends whether you think SB is the kind of player who might bluff the river with a busted draw.

Probably the best line here is to raise turn and check behind on the river.

Re: This hand didn\'t feel right

This is a classic example.

If he has a Q, T or some stupid two pair, he will call your river bet and beat you.

In this classic spot, you have to ask yourself what hand do I beat AND he will call. Let's try 66, 88, 99, 7x. Now go back to how he played the hand and see if any of those make sense.

If you approach your river bet with this line of thinking, you will generally come to the conclusion that checking behind is best.

And if you ever play NL, this is even more important due to how much a mistake can cost you in this situations.
