Top pair and a draw
36+3 WCOOP satellite, very early, no reads yet. Preflop I was distracted and heard the warning beep (and I'd been playing limit cash games), so I just hit the button, hence the min-raise.

Re: Top pair and a draw
If I am raising this flop I am calling the push. So I would raise the flop vs a donkey, or somone who is passive and wont play back.
Without reads you have to fold. Generally I like to call the flop and se what happens on turn. reevaluate, or hit straight. |
Re: Top pair and a draw
Call - you have something like 8 for straight, 2 for Q, 3 för K and 1 for runner runner flush for a total of about 14 outs - you have to call.
If you miss the draws - play the next satellite. |

Generally I like to call the flop and se what happens on turn. reevaluate, or hit straight. [/ QUOTE ] He had AK and as you predicted in the later post, I was drawing to 3 outs for a chop or runner-runner boat. As it turned out (and I know technically speaking, since the deck is always shuffled, it's different), the turn card was a 9, so all my chips were going in one way or the other. River was a king. I was short-stacked, doubled up a short time later and that led to this hand: Stacks: Button 1215, SB 2925, Hero 880. 15/30 blinds Fold to button (new to table) who limps, SB limps, Hero (9d 9h) raises to 120, button calls, SB folds. Pot is 270, flop comes Ts 9s 6s. I want to find out if he's got the flush and bet 210, button calls. Turn is 5c. Pot is 690, my stack is 550, his stack is 885. Is this a shove? Was it a shove on the flop? |
Re: Top pair and a draw
in the hand with the set I make the flop bet around $250...this leaves you with 510 to shove on turn into pot of 770
if 4th spade comes on turn I probably wimp out though...non spade 5 I definitely push turn. |
Re: Top pair and a draw
First hand just call the flop, second hand raise more preflop, bet pot on flop.
|
Re: Top pair and a draw
Yeah, raising more preflop with the 99 might have been the better play. I shoved the turn, he called with T8 no hearts and made his straight.
