PNL - Stack to Pot ratios and commitment thresholds
 

I have seen some posts by on the boards about PNL to the effect of:

"Is SPR and planning hands around the commitment threshold REALLY what pros do? Or did you guys think this up yourselves and come up with an acronym for it"? yada yada

Well, I was reading some of the 2+2 archives, and I found this very interesting post from Tommy Angelo made in 2001 where he is addressing NLHE and how it differs from PLHE:

You're right. Win or lose, I do feel extremely lucky to have frequent opportunities to play no-limit.

Like you in reverse, I have little experience at pot-limit. I can only offer conjecture as to what might be an overlooked difference between the two games.

At no-limit it's critical to be aware of stack-sizes and of when various thresholds are in play or approaching, and how to get to them or avoid them. I suspect that on average, hand after hand, stack against stack, the various thresholds come into play less frequently at pot limit than at no-limit.

Ciaffone and Reuben clearly think the same way in Pot Limit and No Limit Poker (I totally just made up that name, you know the book I mean).
