OOT, help me land this apt
 

OK, so I have to be out my current place by Sept 1.

My friend (and roommate to be) and I both received a tour of a lower not too far from my current residence. We both loved it. A few minutes before I received the tour, an older lady (mid-40s, single) had taken it as well. We're about to file the application for said apt.

I told the homeowner (who doesnt live on the premises) that I was going back to school (since I didnt want to say poker player) and that my roommate is a supervisor at his work, which he is.

Truth-be-told, I'd have to assume the older lady is ahead of us just based on: female vs. male, older single adult vs. two young adults.

What are some things we can do to make ourselves stand out and/or win this thing? Little things, a kin to how you should always send a "Thank You" note to a potential employer who interviewed you.

If you really like it, just offer the owner an extra $100, or a bigger security deposit.

Chances are the lady isn't even going to take it. Most apartments get shown a ton of times before they get rented, and whatever makes that place good for you and your roomie (2 bedrooms maybe?) might make it less than desirable to the lady.
