FL 1-2 Nut low, no high draw
I know that this is a really situational question but any insight is appreciated. I'm really just learning this game still and was wondering when it is right to hold on to nut low with little to no chance at high. For example.
Holding Ah 2h 3h 4d on flop of 8s 6c 3d It's almost impossible to get counterfeited. How many people need to be in this hand in order for it to be profitable? |
Re: FL 1-2 Nut low, no high draw
If there is a lot of action, you'd usually break-even 4 handed. On rare occasions, you'd get 1/3 of the low for a slight lost. I've been playing O8b since 2000 & can count on my fingers the number of times I've gotten in this situation. I only worry about it in limit-O8b when it's three-handed with a maniac who pumps nut low hands.
Usually you'll make money 5+ players. You do have re-draws in your hand to increase expectation. You can catch [5] for the str8 & [A] or [2] to counterfit the other player's lows. So you have +EV |
