At 5NL I don't think I am ever folding that hand...the players are too bad and make that play with anything..

I am a new player also and so take what I say with a grain of salt lol.

After the flop the pot is now .25c and you bet .10c making the pot now .35c or 3.5 to 1 to call. This is not really bad odds to make a .10c bet to stay in. Perhaps it is better to make a semi-bluff bet of something like .35c making the pot odds 1.7 to 1 and indicating that you definately have a good hand? This might make the player fold right here and indicates that you definately have something(either a King or flush draw).

Re: Do I fold here?

Position + SCs = good enough to raise pre-flop. 90% of the time the flop will miss you, but you'll take down the pot with a c-bet.

Come the flop you're got an awesome combo-draw - 15 outs with 2 cards to come means you'll make a killer hand 60% of the time. With that much pot equity, you want to bet for value. Bet the pot.

The turn completes you hand, but a lot of other hands as well. Some of them you beat (straights, sets), some of them beat you (any two spades higher than 8). You really don't have UTG's range defined at all, since you didn't raise pre-flop. So he could have any two cards.

Raise pre-flop next time. Good pre-flop play makes post-flop play easier. Easier post-flop play is a good thing, since in NL post-flop mistakes are very expensive.

As broad as UTG's range is, it is very likely you are ahead. So the correct thing to do is to play for all your chips. Now you need a plan to get all your chips in the pot.

With UTG's raise there's $1.85 in the pot, you have 5.00 behind and UTG has you covered. Just calling his bet won't get all your money in on the river. It's correct to raise. Then, a pot size bet on the river will get all your chips in the middle.

However, UTG is friendly enough to raise you back. With 40% of your chips already in the pot it's totally wrong to fold, although it seems less likely that your hand is currently best.

So raise your SCs on the button, and go to war with your monster draws, particularly when you have position. Once the 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] fell on the turn you played just fine, but really the hand played itself from that point.

Re: Do I fold here?

Thanks greatly, phydaux. My main concern was that I was right to try to get the stacks in once the turn hit. I'll try to employ a more aggressive pre-flop strategy with sc's. Tonight's been rough. Got stacked on this hand (villain had As-Qs) and another where I flopped a set of Kings, pushed, and lost to a runner-runner straight. :/

I don't fold a set of kings unless there's a gun to my head.

Careful with pre-flop aggression with SCs. You want to be in position. Position & aggression are the two of the most powerful weapons you have. But position is the king.

Re: Do I fold here?

I should've included that I didn't mean to say "be aggressive with sc's UTG". As for the Kings, I can post that...I slow-played the set to get rest of villain's chips in (even though the pot was 4x their stack) and got pwned by the straight on the river.
