Quick question about protecting your hand

Just a silly question about protecting a TPTK hand: can the board be too wet to do it?

Example:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (6 handed)

CO ($97.15)
Button ($101.30)
SB ($98.21)
BB ($136.85)
UTG ($116.60)
Hero ($114.81)

Assume loose/passive villain.

Preflop: Hero is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero raises to $3.5, CO calls $3.5, 3 folds.

Flop: ($8.50) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $7.5, CO calls $7.5.

Turn: ($23.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero...

Normally I would bet, or is this simply too threatening a flop to protect against?

vs a loose/passive villain, I fire the turn here 100% of the time. That 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] is perfect. Fold to a raise though.

Edit: Also, it's not protecting here, it just value betting.

bet bet bet the flop. don't get scared before you've put money in the pot

I was more concerned with firing another one on the turn... I normally bet, but the wettest boards seem to get me in trouble.

This spot sucks. I probably bet $16 and fold to a raise.
Check call a blank river if called. A strong made hand is most likely raising this turn. Check fold a river completing the flush or making a 4 straight.

Sounds good. There's no general rule on the turn in these sorts of spots, but I think it's worth one more bet in this case.
