Doug Stanhope

I just saw his Showtime special last night (I think it was showtime... could have been another non-HBO cable channel) and thought it was amazing. It's only once every couple of years that a comic comes along that can make you laugh out loud several times during a one-hour show.

I had never heard of him before, so it was a very pleasant surprise to run across his show.

Check it out if you can, you will either be offended or entertained... but you won't be bored. He's pretty much the exact opposite of Dane Cook.

I thought it was one of the most brilliant stand-up acts I've ever seen. I mean historically brilliant, like the first time you saw George Carlin, or Robin Williams (before he became a buffoon).

Yeah, I didn't want to talk him up too much, but that's exactly what I was thinking. I would say the act is in the same league as the best Carlin, Dennis Miller, Steven Wright, or Chris Rock specials... which is to say that it's the best stand-up act i've seen in over 10 years.

I've only known him from his appearances on Howard Stern. (with his girlfriend 'Bingo') If you can find copies of those, they are worth watching.

I'll be on the lookout for the show. Thanks OP.

Stanhope's version of the Aristocrats joke killed, and I saw some clips of him on youtube - along with Jim Norton and Louis CK, he has to be one of my favorite comics working today.

If you want comedy and tiits together watch the Girls Gone Wild that he is the host for.. It's hilarious, at one point before two girls flash or kiss(don't remember) and they were drunk and were like "omg we're roomates" and he says "that's great, now lay on the pool table and finger [censored]"

I just went and looked at some Stanhope clips on YouTube. Can't find any from the Showtime special, but this one should give you some idea of where he's coming from:

Oh, Christ, this one has "Stanhope" written all over it. Hilarious, yet disturbing.

Doug stanhope "no refunds" is the show.

Caught the 2nd half of it a few nights ago. Pretty good.

Saw him live a few months after 9-11 along with carlos mencia and dr dirty and one of the redneck comics. Great show... Stanhope was hilarious that night, and pretty drunk too.
