I'd probably just jam it in with the pot being so large already.

Hero,

I'm beginning to worry that you need to take a little time and do a little reading on the side. Some of these questions are VERY fundamental. That's not a jab against you personally, but you should know exactly what to do with AK here without question.

Personally, I don't raise just to 1800 here. I push. There is already 1000 in the pot and both of these guys have 10K in chips. 1100 = ~22% of your stack, which is fine. When you raise to 1800, there is now 2900 in the pot and only 1350 to call. So, you may very well get a call, especially in a $4 and against these stacks. That would suck, because there would be 4200 in the pot and you have 2700, which is not a great spot to be in.

Finally, if you push, you have more FE against some players mid pairs and, conversely, a better chance to get all chips out of of AQ from others who think you are on a major squeeze.

they don't both have 10k, CO has 4500, around 4000 after the raise call. fyp.

I'm till learning even though its been over 2 years.

I realized I should have pushed pre-flop after I re-raised pre-flop and got a call. I was then faced with the dilema on the flop when I only had psb left on a Q high flop.

It's cool, me too. You could play for two years and it doesn't matter if you have no concept of stack /bet sizing.

It's easy now - if he checks, you PSB. If he bets and you are around 25%, you call. I'd just rather have AK with five cards to go or get a fold in this spot, which is why you push.

If the pot is 20% or more of your stack and you think you can get both players to fold 30% of the time, jam.

The larger the pot is to effective stacks, the less you need them to fold, and they less they will fold.

Re: AK Facing Raise & Call

Here are the three key factors.

1) Pot size > 20% of your stack

2) Perceived strength of opponents' hands: You are ahead of their range and you have big fold equity against 90% of that range.

3. Tournament level. in a 180, at the first level after the 1st break, there are probably 70 players left. At this point, chip accumulation > survival.

Add all three together and you get a clear shove.
