Co worker is in hudge debt. What will most likely happen?

My co worker has 5 different check advance places calling him at work and randomly visiting but he avoids their calls, and avoids their visits to the office. I think he has a drug problem too. My question is this: What will most likely happen as he continues to fail to meet his obligation? Jail? Bankrupty? Lost job?

He's salaried and we work nearly 7 days a week for 10~14 hour days, so he really has very little chance of getting a part time job to supplement. He also tells the receptionist that all these "callers" are wanting to talk to him cuz he filled out a bunch of credit card apps and he doesn't want to talk to them....

He's also at the pinnacle of his career and IMO it would be extremely difficult for him to find another job in the local market of comparable salary...to use a poker phrase, he's drawing pretty thin...

Oh yea, i forgot to mention that coworker rents an apartment and just bought a new car 6 months ago after he drunk~hit and ran someone then scrapped out his old car that he had bought from a buy here~pay here place. Pretty sure he has no equity anywhere and Daddy cut him off after he f*cked over the old man for the first 35 years (lol)

We don't have debtor's prison.

That being said, he sounds like a good candidate for bankruptcy.

someone will manage to serve him and he'll have to go to court. most likely he'll have his wages garnished.

Kind of weird that you are showing so much interest in your co-worker.

Your employer might consider this guy to be a threat to company security, in which case he's likely to have his wages more than garnished. Maybe this will resolve your personal issues...

I was wondering if top management would cast a skeptical eye towards his personal affairs or just stick their head in the sand.

BlackAsthma, you've said what i wanted to hear. It seems reasonable that the company should not view him as a reliable or responsible individual at the very least. His department's performance is slacking too. But then again, most people don't think the way I do.
