I'd call. I think he has a busted draw or 66-88 33% of the time. I don't really think a bet that big is for value very often given the board and how little strength you have shown.

As played it is a call.
I would bet turn for ~40 and fold if he raises there or if he calls then check river.

Betting the turn will more or less remove this kind of decission on the river. It will also charge QJ and perhaps get value from several one pair hands.

WHat I am trying to say is that a turn bet does a far better jobb of defining his hand on river he can have either a strong hand or a busted draw if you bet turn he will call with draws and c/r stronger hands leaving you with a much clearer decission.

i don't understand all the calls here. I don't think a PSB on the river here is a weaker 10 or a busted draw. Someone's trying to get paid.

Why didn't you bet turn?

A PSB doesn't get called very often in a spot like this though. If villain has a monster he wants to bet an amount that can get called by 66-88 or a decent ten. When I see big river bets after the turn checks through from OOP villains, when they have a strong hand it's a hand that missed a checkraise on the turn, and there basically aren't any hands that fit that bill that make sense.

I don't really have a good explanation as to why I didn't bet the turn. I suppose I was attempting to keep the pot small, and keep hands like 77-88 in.

In retrospect I like betting the turn better.

anyway, I called and villain showed 9T
