$100 SNG hand, Tough Spot
 

Villain is an idiot. He min bets a lot for pot control, and when I raise him he tends to fold, but he's showed up with a big hand a few times. This is the first time he's led so big. He's also been pretty loose postflop.

What do you all think of this hand?

If he's loose postflop why 1/3 flop bet? I'd think you'd generally want to bet less against tighter players and more against looser ones, but you must have a unique reason here, just curious why.

Have your cbets all been like this? It's tough to really put him on a range without knowing any past play except "he minbets for pot control" but that doesn't apply here. Him being loose helps but not knowing how loose he is and not explaining about the 1/3 or even the 3x raise PF really leaves me in the dark on this one.

i would put him on
a) a flopped set, and he now realises how f*ckin drawy the board is

b) QT or KT
c) AJ or J9
d) combodraw
e) something really weird that absolutely makes no sense

I think he rarely has a hand that is worse than yours atm, so to me it would be an easy muck. I hate this sentence, but i would "fold and wait for a better spot".

I think K10/AJ/J9 are most likely NOT in his range.

K10 should usually be reraising the flop. AJ/J9 almost never overbet shove the turn here.

Looks like Q10 or a combo draw.

Idiots like the one you described are often known to lose patience and start overplaying their vulnerable but made hands; the blinds are big; turn card makes this flop super draw-y; he sucks and he knows that; it's better to take the pot now than loose to str8/flush ... I'd say 80%+ of the time he has a pair of Kings or better (and sometimes but rarely combo).

I agree with Sheetah. Vs this kind of villian I find this overbet more often than not to be a made hand, not a monster, but made hand.

you need to work on your preflop raise and flop bet size...who the hell knows whats going on here when you donkey around like this....i'd fold turn though.

Hate your bet size on the flop. Checking or betting 200 is way better.

As played it is a very simple fold, not sure why you think the spot is tough.

This sums up well what a few of you said.

At some point during the match I started turning my second and third pair hands into value bets on the flop which really [censored] me up for hand reading. I too would have liked a larger raise on the flop for value. 1/3 pot offers 3:1 odds, or 25% BEP, which he has with a wide range of hands there. Plus, he can make the turn very difficult for me to play, as he did.

As is, I need to break even 40% on the turn. Analyzing it now, I'd put him on:

K7s,QTs,J9s,Js8s,Js7s,Js6s,Js5s,Js4s,Js3s,Js2s,K7o ,QTo,J9o

In that case, I have 29% equity, so I should have folded (I called).
