/UTG is 24/7/2.6, MP is 67/5/1.4. Hero is semi-LAGgy (26/20/3.8.

Bet. There's a very good chance you have the best hand here and you may get called down by top pair or an overpair. You do not want to see the fourth [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] come for free so just bet and hope for the best.

If you face a big re-raise you can think about folding, though it seems odd that UTG wouldn't keep betting if he had the flush and MP wouldn't have bet if he had it too.

what's an appropriate size bet here? Pot-sized? More? Less? How much to charge for someone looking for that fourth [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]?

Pot is $16.10, and stacks on the turn are

UTG ($35.38)
MP ($25.57)
Hero ($33.56)

Well, the bare minimum to protect your hand is 2/3 pot. I think to size your bet properly, you need to ask if you're committed, either right now, or if no [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] falls on the river. If you are, I'd bet closer to a PSB now. If you don't think any of these guys would c/r you or push a brick river w/o a flush, letting you fold, then 2/3 pot should be better with the intention of pushing a non-club river if no one tells you you're beaten.

grunch

i would pot the turn. we're basically never getting c/r'd, and i want to make it expensive for A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]x or K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Kx to draw.

I check behind here. Are you committed to the pot? Who is more likely to get broke by checking? What about betting? If we bet 1/2 pot we are committing 1/3 of our stack and we commit ourselves.

What is UTG's range? JJ-AA, AKs, AK, and possible AQs. UTG bets strong on the flop representing a TPTK, an overpair, or a set. If he is tricky enough he might also make a strong continuation bet w/ AK [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. MP could have just about anything.

Be ready for the bet that is coming from UTG on the river. You induced this bluff, so be prepared to call at least a 1/2 pot bet.

I like the idea of aggression in position, but what if UTG wakes up and bets 1/2 pot on river? I get lost here. If I am UTG and make a flush on the turn, I might check to an aggressive player and trap MP into overcalling. I could then lead the river on a non club and get paid off by both players.

Yes, I do have some monsters under the bed.

OK, I'll continue, making this a bit of a playalong:

Hero bets 9.50, UTG calls, MP pushes.

Easy fold now?

Wow. This is a terrible spot. What can we beat here? A set and 2 pair? MP aggression factor says he is pretty passive. I fold and watch UTG fold too. Good bye 1/3 of our stack. I think this is why pot control here is good. Either way, we got the information that we wanted.

Re: NL25 - Top straight on drawy board

hmm.

MP pushes b/c he's got a crushing monster? or b/c he's pot committed at this point?

when the action gets to MP, there's $35.10 in the pot. If he calls, it would be 44.60 in the pot and he'd have 16.07 left behind on the river. So even a 1/3 pot bet on the river will put him all-in at that point, anyway. And if he's calling this turn bet, he's staying for a showdown at the river.
