50NL : KK faces weak river bet with A-hi flop...
Curious about the river action. I decided to call given that I checked the flop and could be facing a Q or a missed draw a good percentage of the time.

I like betting the flop. It's no different than a normal c-bet and it makes the hand much easier to play.

call
rest of hand is good imo |
Re: 50NL : KK faces weak river bet with A-hi flop...
I usually cbet this flop but im a cbettin robot. I think an argument can go either way here tho IMO. As played on flop I think i def would call the turn. Checkin the flop makes us seem weak and a lot of mid PP and Qx or draws could fire the turn here. Villian bettin the river could once again be mid PP, Qx, or missed draw and its too weak for me to fold. I dont see you gettin much value by raising the river. I guess you could raise the turn and fold to more action. That line would be better to let you know where you stand but that probably folds out most the hands you beat.

Re: 50NL : KK faces weak river bet with A-hi flop...
Bet the flop just like a regular c-bet. The way you played was fine, but youd prolly get more info by betting flop.

Sweet. I would play it the same.

I cbet flops like this although checking is probably fine too. I just think the flop is too coordinated to give a free card without knowing SB's cold calling range. I play the rest the same way but it looks like a weak ace here for villain.

grunching - I would have potted the flop to figure out if he hit the ace or not. As played you really dont know if he has an ace or queen, definitly too passive. You really just have to call down now to see if your hand is best. If you would have bet at the flop you would have saved the 4.50

Checking behind denies villain a streets worth of value that can go towards building a big pot if he is ahead, and is more likely to get some value from hands we are ahead of. Hero's line is fine if he calls the river. |
