When are you a pro?

so, i've always wondered, what exactly qualifies you as a 'pro'? you can just call yourself a pro and you're a pro? lol.. i dont understand what qualifies you as a pro, cause there's people who have won WPT titles and stuff and are still called amateurs, then there's online players who are considered pros. someone fill me in.

Standard definition is that you are a professional if you make the majority of your money from playing poker.

Re: When are you a pro?

I think you are a pro if it is your career. Success or level of play is irrelevant. It's like in sports, if they do it for a living they are called professional sports people.

Re: When are you a pro?

Yeah if it's your only source of income you are a pro. I believe that if you're making like, half or more of your income from poker then you can be considered semi-pro.

You can't tell people you're a pro until you are on TV. Then you are a professional poker player!!!

Yeah it's like how everyone at Shawshank is innocent. All 2+2ers are pro.
