I was young when Phil left the air for good - he genuinely loved the game of baseball. Sad to see him go.

'one of the last great Yankees' - if he means one of the last players from the teams of the 40s, 50s, and 60s - sure. there are plenty of other great Yankees still alive today.

Obviously I am too young to see him play, but he had some sick seasons for a 150 pound shortstop. Always a sad when one from the golden era leaves us. Scooter was a riot when the games were on WPIX. Sigh, Remembering Phil and Bill White calling games (some awful yankee teams) makes me despise Michael Kay even more. Even with the Cannoli talk and leaving games early to beat the traffic, there will never be a better announcer for Yankees broadcasts. Thank God he got in the HOF before he died.

God Bless ya Scooter.

Thats what I remember most about him. Phil Rizzuto always seemed to me like someone's grandfather color commentating on the games.

He had a way of entertaining the viewer.

I will miss the Cora (his wife) stories, and getting cannolis on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx.

With free agency teams have less tradition.
The only Yankees that have tradition are Jeter Mariano and Posada. Perhaps Pettite. Of them, only Jeter and Mo are great.

Everyone else is a hired gun in todays day and age.

I know its an arbitrary term, but how the hell is Bernie Williams not making the cut as a "great" Yankee?

Last I checked Bernie is no longer on the roster.
If you mean past Yankee greats..maybe.
