2/4 - The good old overcard bluff

MP is running 25/23 and very aggressive. I've been raising lots preflop and he's mostly rolled over. I think he can tell I might be getting out of line. The choice was either to 4-bet or see a flop and I decided to call since I wasn't sure what to do vs. a preflop push.

Also, note we're 5-handed and that button was super weak tight so I'd suggest you treat this more as a CO/Button battle than UTG/MP.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Hero ($402)
MP ($400)
Button ($478.15)
SB ($1213.65)
BB ($227)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Hero raises to $14, MP raises to $48, 3 folds, Hero calls $34.

Flop: ($102) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $70, Hero raises to $354

Villain has $282 to call.

''I think he can tell I might be getting out of line.'' ???

im not a fan. what range did you put him on???

he calls w too many hands on this dry flop most of the time. pushing here looks much more weak than a c/r on the flop to about 160-180ish

Potential range: 77-88+, ATs+, AJ+, KQ throw in some connectors and suited one gappers too with the way this table has been going.

I don't like it. The fact that you've been aggressive makes it more likely he'll call. Plus you never know if he's 3betting light because you've been raising lots or if he's just been waiting for a hand and finally got it.

I'm sure you know the flow and opponent better than anyone else. Do some math with pokerstove. Sometimes its +EV, somtimes it isn't.

this IS NOT terrible by any means. i just think his image of you etc etc would make this -ev.

i feel he calls with TT+, AJ, KJ

im actually quite confused the more i think about it..
but i think im sticking with my original post

I like this if the dynamic of the game is right. Vallian might be aggresive but i don't think he will stack off with TT and KJ. The board is so dry that he must put you on a hand and you could easily take a line like this with JJ+ and AJ.

A bit suspicous overbet I think, looks weird.
$200 instead and a turn push all in looks more like you want value.

you really think villain will fold to a turn push after committing half his stack on the flop?
