Taking chips from table - should I speak up?
 

This is a situation I was in a fair while ago, but I'd be interested in what people think...

Casino game with 1/2.50 blinds, max buyin $100.

There was a semi drunk guy to my right who had no idea of poker rules. He had borrowed $100 from one of his mates and by some act of god managed to get up to $400. His mate came over and the guy took $100 off the table to pay him back.

By the time the dealer realised this the friend had moved away from the table, so the dealer didn't bother enforcing the rule of keeping your money on the table.

Should I insist that this guy takes his money back? No one else seemed that bothered, so it might have put me off-side against the other players. On the other hand, I had position against a very loose, weak player with a big stack.

Is it worth pissing people off in this situation?

Don't make a big deal of it.

He'll get up to pay back the money he owes and then sit down again... not at your table.

Explain to him nicely what the rule is? Yes.
Win the $300 he has left? Of course.

The chance that some semi-drunk (and getting drunker right?) player might leave with 3 buy-ins if you make a big deal about this makes keeping quiet the right move. In fact, do a shot or two with him.

The only legal way for the bad/drunk player to remove the $100 is to leave your table. shhhh.

In this case, I don't even think I would explain the rule to him.

What casino spreads 1/ 2.50 blinds? I did this once and regret it. Drunk guy leaves w/like $600. Tried to come back ten min later and play for $200. I asked the dealer to call the floor for ruling. Floor wont let him play w/o remaining cash and the drunk leaves. I was mad for the rest of the night.
