NL50: overpair + flush draw on monotone board

Reads: Villian seems pretty solid. He has 3-bet me preflop with KQo once before and seems to have a decently wide 3-bet range.

Stacks:

Hero: ~$65
Villian: ~$120

Dealt to Hero in SB: J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Hero raises to $1.50, Villian re-reaises to $5.00, Hero calls.

Flop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Villian bets $8, Hero...?

I'd agree with this. The only times you're in truly bad shape are when villain has an overpair with a heart, a set, or a made flush. Even against an overpair with a heart you have 5 outs, so it's not totally awful. If his 3-betting range is wide, those hands don't comprise a large portion of it. I'd just get it in.

Point. Although the only NL50 games I can play are on Stars, and there's a whopping 10 tables, 3 of which have been taken by people who do nothing but sit out and block the tables. Naturally the only way to get on a table is via wait list, and I ran into someone better than I'd like to play. I imagine if Stars adds more HU tables this problem will go away and I can table select a bit better.

This is what I did, I raised to $22, villian shoved, I thought for a short time and called, villian tabled Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Good to see that this isn't a bad call in the long run. Also I made this back and then some when villian left 10 minutes later and was replaced by 2 definitely not solid opponents.

I'm sorry but this is a bit ridiculous that this is in every thread. If you want to be able to move up you should be able to beat "solid" opponents at NL 50. In general, all though it is not the most profitable, I will play anyone at my limits and stop playing them when i feel outclassed in a specific match.
