Brag: Playing an awesome course on Monday
 

I'm a current Evans Scholar, as part of the scholarship, everybody who is a current scholar gets to attend the Western Golf Association Summer Outing in Chicago. I'm leaving for Chicago tomorrow, and I get to play Medinah on Monday. I'm one of the two best golfers in our house at U of M, so I get to play a better course than the rest of the students, so I think I will be playing Medinah #3 (host of 2006 PGA Championship) for free. I'll try not to be too hungover on Monday morning.

Do you know how the apparent screwing the Western Open and WGA took will affect the Evans Scholars? Is the BMW going to contribute or anything?

From what they've been saying, it sounds like the BMW Championship is just the Western Open with a new name, and it will go to more midwest courses than just the Chicago Area. I'll find out more when the directors give their speeches on Monday, but it sounds like this will be a positive for the WGA and the Evans Scholars program.

Well, I'm back.

We didn't play the Championship course, we played Course #1 which wasn't spectacular IMO. It was nice, but nothing more than a standard Country Club. Plus, having planes fly directly overhead was very annoying.

I played very well on the back 9 (our first 9), shooting a 2 over 37. After 9 holes the 95 degree temp plus 80% humidity caught up with me as I am not in the best physical condition and I shot 50 on the back.

As for the BMW Championship, the event is still entirely run by the WGA, and will give much more money to the Evans Scholars Foundation than the Western Open did.
