I would reraise preflop, which pot commits you.

Once you call the pot sized cbet, you are pretty much pot committed. Probably checkraise allin on the flop. Check/calling is OK. If you think villain has a bigger pair, fold the flop. Anything is better than what you did.

i think you played it weak tight.

I would make it a third of his stack pre, and probably call a push.

If I called pre, I would push on the flop.

I dont fold an overpair getting these odds.

Seriously, can you explain how you rule out AKs,AKo,AQs,AQo,AJs from his range with no reads?

Sure you could be dead to a set or an overpair to yours, but your tournie isnt on the line.

I seriously think pushing pre is a way way better play than the line taken here.

I dont like playing a hand like 99 this passively. 99 doesnt like flops unless it has odds for a set.

Folding an overpair getting these kinds of odds cant be profitable long term, methinks.

You can't call the flop and then fold the turn. Either shove the flop or call the turn.
I would probably shove the flop because half the deck is a scare card for you on the turn.

This isn't a cash game, where you can fold 99 in this situation. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] It looks like you played your 99 for set value - what were you hoping for otherwise??? The board is all undercards - that's a dream situation for you short of hitting a set. He doesn't have a 6 or a set of 8s (well, suppose there is a tiny chance), so if you think he has TT-AA fold pre-flop since you don't have the implied odds to play for a set. Seriously, if you have looked into his soul and KNOW he has an overpair - fold. Otherwise, you HAVE to get it AI with that great flop.

I would usually reraise preflop. If I'm calling pre I'm pushing this flop.
