Various Ruling Questions Please
 

1. On the flop, player 1 bets 15, player 2 raises to 45, player 3 says "call", player 4 folds. It then becomes clear player 3 did not hear the raise to 45 and was only calling the 15. Player 4 states he folded only because player 3 called, otherwise he would have called. What is player 3 obligated if anything to do?

2. In a cash game, when all players are all in prior to the river, is it generally accepted players are only required to turn their cards over if they choose?

3. In a cash game, can a player choose to show his cards to the entire table while in the hand and players not all in? On the same note, can a player turn over his cards while deciding whether to call an all in of another player?

4. In a tournament, if a player turns over his cards on the flop because he mistakingly believes his opponent is all in, what is the ruling?

This is acceptable if the action is heads up or the players action will close out the action.

For 1, the player who stated "call" should be held to the call, and the same to the player who said they were folding. Verbal actions are binding.

2. Thats the rule I like and is the general casino rule. Some home games say you have to show.

4. I would rule that his hand is still live, but I don't what the actual ruling would be.

2's kind of a weird one. You don't HAVE to show, if you don't want to, but since there's an all-in, you're definitely going to showdown, and once you make it to showdown, you have to show your hand if any of the other players request it.

Right, but players won't be requesting to see your hand that often.

If he 'grossly' misunderstood the size of the bet, he can be allowed to change his action. Not clear is $30 falls under 'gross misunderstanding'. Probably not IMHO.

That said, once player 4 folds he's held to his call because action has occurred behind him.
