2007-8 Eastern Conference

The top seeds in the East suddenly seem up for grabs. What two teams seem most likely to grab the top two seeds?

The reason I did this, is I think it's really up for debate.

Detroit cruised to the top seed and despite the playoff loss to the Cavs, should be tough.

The Cavs had a good record, winning the tiebreaker, but the Bulls would seem to have more room for improvement.

Boston is obviously a totally different animal.

Miami was decimated by injuries.

Toronto had a great record, finished strong, and should only get better as their core matures.

Chicago and Detroit have most wins.

Cleveland or Boston goes to the Finals.

The Bulls edge is killed in the playoffs when all the teams are trying equally hard.

They could approach 60 wins with how hard they play and how good of a coach Skiles is.

Starting off every season like 2-8 really doesn't help either.

I voted Detroit (they keep cruising in reg season) and Chicago (most room for improvement, at almost every position), slightly ahead of Cleveland and Boston, who I think will need time to gel but may be among the best come playoff time.

After reviewing that list, I realized we all crap on the East quite a bit. There are some good teams.

On paper, it has to be Detroit, Chicago, and Boston, in that order. Cleveland, Washington, Miami, Toronto, and Washington the next best.

Actually a few other decent teams out east, NJ, Orlando, potentially Milwaukee.

I just made an even money bet that Celtics don't win the Eastern Conference. It's obviously a +ev bet even though they will have a solid team. I told my friend Bulls would win the East. I just think they have the team to do it. I am a Knicks fan though. We will have problem on the defensive side.
