General Bridge Discussion Thread

If you are new to the game and want to learn I highly recommend dling both of the programs found here
http://web3.acbl.org/internet/websit...nload?openform
Working your way through these probably makes you better than the average Pogger.
For more complex conventions see here
http://www.acbl.org/play/commonlyUsedconventions.html
majority of those are far beyond what it needed for friendly play. The ones that I use are all in the learning to play bridge software anyway.
http://online.bridgebase.com/intro/i...de_for_bbo.php
That is mostly for online. But the Bridge Master 2000 in the other bridge activities is good for learning more complex declarer play.

What conventions are generally used in the Pog bridge games?

Depends on the partner. Shorty passed my blackwood because he didnt know what it meant.

Many of us try to use SAYC, and keep this page open in the background for assistance:

In Shorty's defense, he is just learning, and has only played a few times. His play was very good for the length of time he has been playing.

Oh I agree. I've made worse plays like FPSing out of a Grand Slam. I was just using that as an example that we have no clue what we are doing

In golf terms, we are hackers. But it is much fun.

Here's a decent program for practising:

http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?4500000036163

It lets you pick the conventions you want to play. The AI isn't great but it's good enough if you're just starting.
