Some say he did and some say he didn't. The most prevelant rumor is that he never took stock options because his daughter or son was sick and he needed the money. Speculate further....

No he just made a living, at least thats what he said in his book Ace on the River. Poker was what made him a lot of money but the rumor that he was a rich business man helped him get into a lot off good games.

In his book he said he quit working cuz the health insurance he had wouldnt cover the treatment that his daughter needed, so he went back to poker to pay for it.

If u have a chance read his book it is very interesting, it is not a how to play poker book but more of how to live as a poker player book.
